Bran is basically outer layer and rice bran oil is made from the bran of the rice grain. This oil is newly introduced for Indian cuisine still it is becoming favorite amongst health experts. According to some dieticians, Rice Bran oil is the healthiest oil. It’s very good for the body cholesterol as it has both polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats. You can try this oil to make cakes and cookies. In addition, smoking point of this oil is very high and hence, it is the perfect one to deep fry the chips and samosa kind of snacks.
Due to polyunsaturated fat, Sunflower oil is considered one of the healthiest oils. This oil is made from the Sunflower seeds. It carries a little light smell and so, doesn’t add its flavor to the food. Vitamin E that works as anti-oxidant and helps the body retaining water is present in it. That is the reason why it is widely used in cosmetics . Prominently, diabetics should not use this oil much as there is a risk of increasing sugar level in case of Sunflower oil consumption.
From the germ of corn, this oil is made. It is used as the core ingredient in processed food such as margarine. Corn has its own great advantages. It contains higher sugar level yet lower calorie count compared with the cereal grains. Corn oil is enriched with Vitamin A, Vitamin B6 and Thiamin. So it is very much useful for eyes and skin and helps maintain the mucus membranes.
Coconut oil is extracted from coconut. Usually used in the south India, particularly Kerala this oil has its own unique aura. It helps building the immunity and stronger metabolism. Coconut oil has saturated fats and raises LDL (bad) cholesterol. While cooking, this oil behaves well at high flame but you can’t use this oil if you are going to deep fry your stuff since large amount of coconut oil is not good for health.
Mustard Oil has its own very strong flavor which adds a unique taste in the recipe. It’s ideal for frying because of its high smoke point. It helps the body in digestion and blood circulation if used as a tonic. Other than this, it is known as anti-bacterial oil and hence, used for skin protection. But as per some health experts’ recommendations, Mustard oil should not be used as a sole cooking medium.
This is the main oil used by major regions of India and even Asia. Groundnut or peanut oil consists of good fat combination. It is all-purpose oil and good for cooking. But as per expert dieticians, this oil should not be daily used. It causes cholesterol and heart troubles. So it’s better to say NO to everyday usage of this oil.
